Who even are you anymore?"Who even are you anymore?" See how awkward that sentence sounds? That's how I felt about this entire book. I enjoyed book 1, the premise and lore are such good ideas, but this book just fell flat to me. The h, while I realize she is young, just felt so oblivious and ridiculous. The sex scenes were barely blips and seemed incredibly rushed and not fulfilling. We seem to barely learn anything about the characters and they're already telling each other I love you. I really wanted to love this book, but even with the good ideas it had going for it, the lack of character and world building and the rushed feeling to it all leaves me saying no to book 3.

Cliffhanger ending. I really enjoyed book 1 but i found myself losing interest in book 2. I’ll try book 3 though.

I liked this one better than the first one. I don't know if it's the writing, or the story itself, but I felt more connected to everything that was taking place, more in tune. The beginning was nuts! I kept thinking "what the hell? Did everyone lost their marbles , or something?", because I just couldn't wrap my head around everything that was happening and the actions the characters were taking. By the end of the book I was exhausted from trying to keep track with everyone's allegiances and from simply trying to remember who's on which side. And everything was happening at such a fast paced! I loved that, It gave the intensity to the story, gave it an edge. But it was so short, too! I swear, I blinked once and it was over. I hope the third book won't take long to come out, cause I really want to see how the characters plan to get themselves out of this mess.

Kenzie's older brother Ryan was knocked down and unconscious throughout most of the story. And the worst part (view spoiler)[He was stabbed to death by his father who betrayed him (hide spoiler)] I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I might read more about this story but I really don't like (view spoiler)[tragedies. (hide spoiler)]

The story continues and is even more exciting! Kenzie has been taken by her brother, she feels so betrayed but that’s not even the half of it!This story has twists and turns galore and is incredibly exciting to boot, well written I was glued to the page and am very excited for book three

Plenty of twists and turns in this second book. Lots of action and I was pleased to see the character’s relationships develop. Hopefully the next book won’t be too far away.

The ending is a cliff hanger and I am interested to see how the authors take the story from here. Even though I also feel that some of the relationships in this book haven’t progressed in terms of “feelings” the characters have for each other with much authenticity. The first book did this much better with the majority of it from kenzies POV. I find it strange too how some of her classmates are shocked at kenzie “getting around” when the norm in society is to have multiple husbands due to the ratio of males to females.. also there is no mention of if she is experienced or not, before sleeping with some of her boyfriends, but the speed of which she seems to be one day kissing one of them for the first time, then they are in her (or should I say her other boyfriend’s) bed and she sleeps with them has me a bit confused. But also why is Enzo the one that misses out? He’s pretty much the one that has saved her life in the first book, and the only one who is considerate of the other men’s feelings. He’s meant to be “the bad boy” but I’m not convinced. This seems like a case of nice guys finish last. Maybe the authors are building up to Enzo? I hope so cause now that Locke has next to no personality in this novel, and Mr Daniels is some obnoxious ass with an alpha complexity, I’m gunning for Enzo for sure. Also I’m thinking that Mr Daniels first name must be something so utterly rediculous for us not to have found out by now. I definitely rated book one higher than this one, but possibly this book was a bit of a filler, to get us to book 3?

As you know I love these two authors and their individual series. Together these two just rock. A guaranteed good read. And I love that we will get more Series from these two. Marked by Pain picks up where Marked by Power leaves off. Kidnapped but not giving in, Kenzie is fighting mad. Her father and brother are trying to get her to their cause. But she is fighting tooth and nail. When she sees she is not alone being held, she has to find a way to escape. But danger is all around, friends become enemies, and can she finally find out what the 12th mark means. A lot happens in Marked by Pain. I cannot reveal any surprises, always best when you discover it yourself, but I can tell you that right along with Kenzie you will feel pain, betrayal, heartache, fear and love. MBP will have you on a roller coaster ride of emotions that does not let up til the end. And yes there is another cliffhanger, but it is necessary to set up for the third book Marked by Destruction. Mr. Daniels is still my favorite, even though I am alittle mad at hime now, but I have to say East is earning his place right up there. I would recommend reading the Marked Series in order so that you can better understand the events that are happening. And after that ending, it has left me needing answers to happens next.

What a great writing combination of Cece Rose and G. Bailey and what a bloody fantastic continuation of this series! This books starts off where the first one finished. It absolutely captivated my attention from page one all the the way to the end. Once again this book finished on a cliffhanger and there are so many questions that I can’t wait for book 3. Kenzie is a great MC, she is strong, independent, sassy and also so loving to her guys, Kelly and her family (except of course her evil father!). I love that we get to see not only so much action in this book but we also get to read the relationships develop more and her connection is so much stronger with Daniels, East, Locke and Logan and Enzo in this book..,but please I need to know what MR Daniels first name is!! I also need more Kenzie and Enzo time...poor boy keeps getting interrupted!!! This is a highly recommended RH series that is sure to keep the reader interested well after reading and makes you want to come back for more and wish the whole series was already written! Do yourself a favour and get into this series, you will not regret it!!

So I really really wanted to like this more. The problem is the book opened with a literary device that I have seen used frequently lately that sucked all of the suspense out of the novel for me. It opened with a scene that was clearly something that was going to happen late in the novel then returns to where the last book ended. Then to add to it, several people have visions of other future events in the novel. So very quickly it was like well this this and this will happen. Which means I need the journey on HOW we get to what is known to be unexpected. And for the most part it wasn't. Which means the characters had to carry my interest with no help from the plot. They tried hard and gave it a good shot, but again, most of it was very predictable about who betrayed her and who would help and who could she forgive. I tend to have middle book issues where a lot of them lose some of the excitement level so take this with a grain of salt. There were some nice steamy moments with her guys. I wish we would have seen Kenzie gain some control over her powers though we do find out more about that 12th mark. What I did love was where the book ended. Now this has some real potential I can get excited about. Warning though that a lot would consider it a cliffhanger ending.

So as you know the rebels kidnap Mackenzie and one of the leaders of the group turns out to be the father she thought died, Alaric. But not only that but another person that is close to her is helping run the rebels as well. Of course that damn near breaks her. Despite that she remains strong sticking to her beliefs that the rebels are wrong in their purity campaign. But it isn’t over yet because with the help of her guys she is able to escape the rebels. But only in the end to end up somewhere all marked thought was a fairytale. The entire book kept me captivated and completely interested. At times I did want to smack Mackenzie for all her whining and then her self righteousness towards Kelly and Ryan. In the end She loses someone and you get a little foresight that she will but who it ends up being I wasn’t expecting. I cannot wait till Marked by Destruction and April is too damn far away. But I will wait since I don’t have choice 😁

Quick readAgain, I'm left caught on the fence in this series. Obviously I got enough out of book one to read book 2. The writing was a smidge better but still lacking detail. That said it's a fast read. Do we ever discover absinthe 12th mark is. Umm...kinda. I don't think that what we learn about it in book 2 is all there is. I'm sure there is much more to it which we will learn in book 3. One thing that really bugs me reading a story is when there is too much hypocrisy. Granted it happens in moments but sometimes it almost to overly used I wonder if the author knows their own characters. Kind of takes away the credibility in reading it. I do like that this storyline is different. I think I like the character of Enzo best because breadsticks to his role and I can count on that consistency. Will I read book 3? Yes.

Mr. Daniels...Jacob? Zeke Sebastian??This book delivered the great story that I've come to expect from this duo.I liked that we got a closer look at the backgrounds of Mr. Daniels (WTF is his first name) and Enzo. There's still the mystery involved with them because I still have so many questions, but I got just enough info to be satisfied. I felt like Kenzie let herself be pushed around a lot more than she needed to be. I get that she didn't know who to trust, but I was over all the crying and hurt feelings early on and just wanted her to fight back when I knew she could. I expected the mean girls, but I was disappointed when Kenzie didn't just toss out a few throat punches like I knew she could, major upset for me.Overall, great book and I look forward to the next one.

Marked by Pain is the second book in The Marked series and by golly gosh is it as good as the first one.We jump right back into the story and the tension and nerves are high. The authors of this series really do like to play with their readers nerves as I wasn't sure who to trust or what was going to come out at me next. It was exciting and fun to read as when you're not sure what will happen the endorphins start rising as you're reading. For me this was easily a five star read. I enjoyed the characters (well except the baddies, but only because they're nasty people and need to meet their comeuppance!) and I enjoyed the setting. It's an easy book to find yourself drawn into and it's exciting to read. I'm desperately looking forward to the next book because I really need to know what happens after that ending. Please don't make me wait too long to find out!

What an adventure! Kidnapped from the Academy, Kenzie finds herself in a tough situation. It only gets worse when she finds out the depth of betrayal she's dealing with. She soon learns that things aren't always what they seem. Who can she trust? What happens when we finally found out about the 12th power? I fell in love with this group in the first book and I've been dying to know what happens next. Now I'm dying to know what happens in the next one! lol Thats in a really good way though. So much happens in this book. We learn a lot and are still left with new questions. Ugh and Mr Daniels! I'm still hot for teacher even though he makes me so mad!!! They are all great but there's just something about Mr D!

So many feels!Rose and Bailey come together again to give us the second book in The Marked Series. Kenzie has been taken by the rebels. Betrayed by the brother she has always looked up to.The first part of this book will have you reaching for tissues. Kenzie is alone and betrayed with only one of her guys that she can turn to. Add in a crazy father and sister and you have an emotional rollercoaster. Then Kenzie finds out she's not alone and that's where the fun starts. And by fun, I mean sexy times. An escape is made, but again someone betrays them (not really surprised who). Rose and Bailey decided to add one more drop on this rollercoaster when a life is lost at the end and our heroes are literally thrown off a cliff!Definitely going to my reread pile!

Alright book two explains more of the problem. It’s hard to connect with the characters. It really is. I’m not crying, I’m not emotionally invested, I’m not dying to know who lives and who dies. If I’m not having an anxiety attack by the middle of the second book then I know it’s not a stellar series. I AM DYING TO KNOW MR. DANIELS FIRST NAME THOUGH. .... And that’s honestly the only thing keeping me going with this series. Can’t wait to find out it’s something totally predictable like Paul or David or Luke. Who wants to start the betting?Anyway, the action is a 6/10. The romance is like a 4/10. The character development can’t even be scaled because there is none. Hoping the third book is better. Book 1 was a good start but book 2 did not please me.

This one lost a star from me because there were times when I was reading that I noticed the style changed and could pick out when the authors switched. The last book was a lot smoother. Some of the scenes felt a little rushed too, as if it was an obligatory moment with one of the guys and got stuffed in. Anything with East should never be rushed. There is always room for longer scenes with East. 😊That being said, the plot was fun, though Mackenzie was a little dense at times. It was a great switch up from the first book so there was never a feeling of just reading the same thing over again. It ends on a nice cliff hanger again, so I'll have to wait patiently for the next book.

The story continues... Kenzie and her guys... the storyline is great I love how it follows to learn what her 12th mark is. It’s like that middle second movie, you get some answers but the ending is still open ending where your like what! I want to know more just when it gets good. I’m not going to lie, the beginning I kind of had to move forward as I got frustrated with Kenzie and her feelings even though I understood what the authors were projecting. Loved the sexy scenes, those were HOT!! Needed more Enzo though. :) anyways, do recommend and will look forward to see what the next book show. Received ARC for my honest review.

Too short!!!There was no reprieve from the book before and the scenes were too short! I read the first book as soon as it was released last year and I loved it. But I could not remember all the characters’ names and personalities without a little bit of help. Hopefully the next book will have a little bit more info about the guys to get the readers in love with them again! Also the sex scene was soooo not that good.... if they are going to have them, at least make it good. ;)

I don't think I can say enough good things about this book. I love Mackenzie and her men, everything about their personalities and playfulness and lust/love for each other just captivate you and hold you hostage throughout the whole book. I could not put this one down for even a second! This one will leave you wracking with emotions and dying to have that third book in your hands immediately. I was dying to have this book in my hands to read and now I'm dying that it was over all too soon. I can't wait to have book three and start where we left off at!

This writing duo is so perfect in my mind. I love what they've been able to create. This was one of those stories where book one stayed vivid in my mind, usually I'd be foggy on details months later. This story just feels epic and important. Definitely a must read for all RH fans in my opinion. My emotions were all over the place with this book but I was so freaking invested. Relationships progress (I adore her men so much, they're all so yummy) there's magic, action, intrigue, violence, and a cliffhanger that will leave you breathless. Such a wonderful world and story.

My read today was Marked by Pain. I really liked the first and thought it had so much potential but I'm really not sure how I feel about book 2. The story is there and it develops well but I feel it's lacking emotion. The sex scenes are uninspiring and underwhelming and no where do they really explain about where the marked come from or why. It eventually comes out about another world, but it takes to the end of the book to really get down to the nitty gritty and still feels lacking in detail. I still enjoyed the story which is why I gave it four stars.

Book 2 was amazing. If you haven’t read the Marked series you are missing out.Kenzie did such a great job of keeping her s**t together when she thinks that almost everyone she loves has switched sides. I loved watching Kenzie’s relationships grow with the guys. I still NEED to know Mr. Daniels first name!!!That ending left me needing book 3 like yesterday!!!Rose and Bailey did an amazing job with this book and I can’t wait to read more books written by them.If your looking for an awesome series to start The Marked Series is definitely a perfect starting point!!!

Had potential but fell shortI really liked the first book in the series and was excited when this one was released. Unfortunately this book didn't deliver the same. The story itself has potential but this book lacked detail and felt extremely rushed. I caught myself losing interest many times while reading and I kept getting hung up on some of the grammar issues. I gave it a three star rather than a two because a two and a half isn't something I could rate it.

Amazing continuation of this story. Just when bad couldn't get any worse, it does. Mackenzie can't catch a break in this installment of The Marked Series. My favorite part of this book is watching the characters continue to grow and the changing dynamic between Mackenzie and her guys is gripping. My favorite character from the first book ended up being my least favorite in this one, come on Daniels, get your priorities straight here! Enzo is now in the lead!

Book 2Book 2 is not only a cliffhanger but a cliff jumper.... you'll get it. Wow there are some characters I hate in this series. Like just plain wicked characters. Bunch of jerks. Far more sexy time in this book as well. But i now need to go read something happy. You'll see.... Cause it's a good read
