It was really difficult to rate this book and I really enjoyed reading it. 3.5 Stars for this book. There is bad blood between the Blackbirds and the Lotts. Dell's brother and the former Alpha Mace meets his mate who is married to Chloe's brother Donnie and well shit just hits the fan unintentionally of course but one thing can set off a chain of reactions and things will never be the same. Dell doesn't understand the attraction that they have and doesn't get that they are mates, slightly dim in that department but he got there in the end but I mean there were so many, maybe also too many muck ups on his part. Chloe is stubborn and hardens her heart to the point of bitterness that she nearly loses everything that she could have. I read that one author stated that she is combatative, meant in a negative way but I liked that attribute. It was all a bit rushed at the end but the story was enjoyable.

3.5 starsWhilst this book is titled as a prequel, it is in fact a full size book. And a good introduction to this particular pack and world.I would normally have given this 4 stars, but there were too many typos, particularly of "your" which should have been "you're", which happened quite a few times. Also the h, Chloe, was annoying as hell; just never really warmed up to her. I felt sorry for the H, Dell, having to put up with her.I will be reading the next one though, cause Chloe has hopefully got over her issues and everything appears fine, which means something dreadful is about to happen. Right? Right!

Good start to a new series While this is not my favorite book in the Territory series, it does a great job of introducing the types of shifters and their other halves. This is a quick read about Chloe and Dell and the introduction of the two by way of a mutual tragedy between their families. It does have a happy ending for the two and opens up the series for more couple interactions

I actually would place this one around a 3.7 for a rating. It was almost a 4.0 but a few things set this one off kilter for me to rate it as such.First, as always, with the shifter genre there are certain required elements in everyone of these stories of this group type. So, you ask why, when such a story is predictable? Well sometimes your just feel like your in the mood for a real good one and wallah, you have a fan base and a dime a dozen written stories on the subject. The trick is, to sort out through them all for the really good ones. This had the typical "Alpha Male" lead and there were some underline elements to that in this story that some people WILL find offensive (can't please everyone all the time). I defend these stories because in essence, we are basically dealing with animal nature here, and who Am I (a human) to judge that. This genre is the ONLY time the "Alpha Male" works in a story, Contemporary there's just no excuse for it. That being said The writer did well maintaining the characteristics for each character. I went into this book knowing it was a part of a series (hence the name in the title). This story is well enough written that it could stand a part from the other. There were only a few areas where the story could be considered attached the the other, but the ref was too brief to really have and significant influence in the story itself. In fact, I think that the ref link was just extra filler and the story would have been better with out that part. There were some editing issues. Example: "When the brother's were close enough, Briggs grabbed Cindy's arm and pulled her away, "Come on.""Brother's" being the none possessive word here. The female lead wasn't a very strong lead. While I can understand how the circumstances at the beginning were warranted and understandable, after a while though it became too much and her attitude was teetering on irritating. I actually got to a point and thought,"Just give the guy a break." Here maturity level was not of a 27 year old. It ranged at a borderline 20 year old. Both her behavior and age conflicted so it was hard to actually like her. There was a point where I actually felt relief that there wasn't going to be an over abundance of over packed drama stuffed in the story (besides the female lead), but that died about 2/3 into it and just went down hill from there. I also was a bit confused. I walked into this story under the impression that Chloe Lott hated Dell and his family because she had referred to him as her enemy. I got the impression it was more of a long standing feud between families like a "Hatfield and Mccoys" type of thing. But, according to the back story, there was no animosity in High School except for a small ref from her brother. I was a bit lost on that part. Another one would also be at the beginning. Chloe took two weeks off to stay with her mom to make sure she was okay, and she was only in town due to the funeral. Well the way the story went, she must have lived relatively nearby. Which then doesn't explain Dell thinking that his family was at fault for her returning home. I did not understand that part at all. Dell seemed as though High School was the last time she was in town. She was a 27 girl. I figured there would have been many chances to run into each other. Either Chloe lived so far away that she never came into town or she lived relatively nearby to still be able to have a date with Dell. Maybe someone else can explain the two oddities to me. Maybe I just missed something there.Overall, this story was a relatively good story to read. Would I read it again. Nah, not likely. There were issues that to me made this story not quite a 4.0. The writer has a good sense to keep her words leading you through this book to it's end. Basically it wasn't boring story. I still may read the other stories in this series if they seem interesting. I believe readers could go either way on whether they like it or not. It's just a chance the reader will have to make on this one.

This story was just Ok to me. The whole alpha as wanna be asshat doesn't really do it for me. There was really no reason for Chloe to go after him and want him. He was kind of a jerk and she was a whiny beeeach. So, the characters just didn't do it for me. To say nothing of the whole premise that he can practically attack her and she is just supposed to deal with it because they are fated mates. Takes life isn't fair to a while new level. Along with despotism. Sort of de facto d/s due to premise.

Alright, gather around fellas! This prequel pretty much knocked it out of the ballpark for me! Great set up for a series! Can NOT wait for more installments in the series!!!What's to love?Chloe Lott is a fiesty gal who's loyal to the core. Her dedication to her family and friends is admirable and she's not a wallflower that will wilt in difficult situations. Sadly the story starts with Chloe in the midst of an emotional landslide- Her beloved brother was murdered and his wife committed suicide. Doing her best to shoulder her own pain and that of her grieving mother set us up for a lot of emotional development throughout the story. Another bonus? Chloe is Native American and I have to admit I don't stumble upon too many romance novels featuring that ethnicity. Loved that!Dell Blackbird is everything I look for in an Alpha male romantic character. Loved the dynamic between Dell and his family and pack mates. As someone with very little family of my own I devoured the warm banter and teasing between the characters. Who wouldn't want to join this pack?!?Only complaint- (In fairness I've never been propositioned by a sexy alpha shifter) BUT even if I was I'd like to think I'd control myself enough not to screw in the bushes outside of a restaurant parking lot. Especially for the first encounter AND with their family members inside! Alas, if the day ever comes that I'm in the position (fingers crossed) I'll update my review if I succumb to temptation. ;)In summary- three hip hip hoorays for Territory Prequel. Now please excuse me while I attack the next book!

GoodA good paranormal. The writing style is unique, and I enjoyed Dell. He was a bit on the softer side, but I like that. Chloe was unreasonable most of the time. What I mean is, when they have sex for the first time, and she spazzes out on him because he didn't tell her what would happen, but she jumped him! It's not like he forced it on her.... She knew he can't control his excited wolf.... The conflicts were brief and not really life-changing. It only added to the tension between Chloe and Dell. What happened to the red wolf? That was resolved behind the scenes, but it's never mentioned what the punishment was or if it was intentionally life-threatening, or why. There was nothing in the background of the rival either. What was that motivation from?I think it could have been better had a bit more time on then other characters and not throwing around characters as props.

slightly annoyingi understand the greif. i dont understand the hatred and animosity. it was ridiculous. Dell should have been much more open and all those misunderstandings would not have happened. he was a bit of an ass at Times and Chloe acted like a 5 year old.

I LOVED THIS BOOK, THIS WAS AN AMAZING BOOK. however there were many intimidate parts where it was a bit too, i dunno, just a bit toooo detailed and that was a bit iffy. but except from that the book was awesome. I've been looking for this kind of book for sooooooo long and now that i found it, I LOVED IT. and i would highly recommend people to read this book if you like werewolves and fantasy romance.

Hooboy, this was different, in a good wayChloe, a human, fought this relationship. She was devastated over her brother's death. But alpha Dell did not give up on her. Not that he really knew what was happening himself. Two clueless people muddling through as best they could. I really liked that Dell's wolf side was so prominent. And I really liked Dell's Mom and Chloe's Mom. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

I really enjoyed this prequel. Susan Bliler knows how to capture your attention and keep it. I wasn't sure how this was going to go because I am not really a big fan of Prequels, but this one worked out really good. I definitely look forward to seeing what Susan has in store for us in the future.I recommend this book and highly recommend you getting Territory as well. You won't be disappointed!!

Ok readI liked this story but I had a few issues with it. (Spoiler Alert). Dell was a total jerk! He didn't give Chloe a choice and seemed to either force her or coerce her to always get his way. I love a good Alpha male but for some reason Dell's actions were just too abrasive. Their romance felt forced and Chloe had no backbone. I'm unsure if I want to read the next book in this series.

Not my favourite book, I actually prefer the second book to this one. It was nice I like the concept of how they were enemies first and then they fell in love. The only thing I didn't like was that she was turned into a wolf by his semen when they had unprotected WTF! I know werewolf books are fantasy and unrealistic, but turning into a wolf like that is just too ridiculous.

Maybe 2.5 stars. The heroine is inconsistent and annoying. The hero isn't any better - no self control which makes him a terrible alpha in my opinion.

Well I love long books that you can really get into but this was too long, there was not enough story. All in all and OK book but not sure I will bother with the next one.
