Her life was a lesson in torment, her death a nightmare of rape and torture.Catherine Colson was almost ten when she witnessed her mother's terrifying death. The trauma of which robbed her of her voice and got her locked away in a psychiatric unit.A troubled soul, Catherine is defensively hostile. At first glance she is rude and brash, but take the time to look beneath the surface and she is so much more.Having grown up being called a freak due to her exceptional IQ and a photographic memory, Catherine has little self worth and even less confidence. Except in her work - in that she takes great pride and works hard to achieve success. Her experiences of men have been brutal and terrifying, and so she dresses down to hide her femininity. Her lovely blonde hair is cut drastically short and she never wears 'girl clothes.'A chance meeting at a client's office brings Catherine to the attention of Logan Sayers, and he is fascinated by her. Tall and broad, he plays prop-forward for a local rugby team and doesn't take crap from anyone - except Catherine.Sparks may fly between them but it all adds to the passion and the mystery that is Catherine Colson, Sara's child....

sara s child Reviews
Firstly, I didn't finish this book, so admittedly my opinion may count for very little. I got about a third of the way through and couldn't take any more. The entire thing read like a knock-off version of the fifty shades trilogy- even down to the asides of "oh my". Although I enjoyed the fifty shades books, I don't want to read another version of them, plagerised by a different author.
Omg what a wonderful book!!! Wow I loved it and starting on the second one now!!!!!
Alright, I don't know where I picked up this title but I had high hopes for this book. Heck, the blurb alone was promising. My opinion comes from the POV of a jaded woman with years of experience. So I think if I read this book 20 or even 15 years ago, I would probably be a happy customer as I closed the book.Although I was expecting to meet the h in a psych ward (which is a very welcoming change) I was ok since she's a no nonsense computer genius totally comfortable in her own beat and quirks. Alright, I like her so far....Her grit and her totally uncompromising attitude. The H as well was introduced as a mysterious, brooding, and handsome (of course, rolls my eyes) rich older (just ten year gap) gentleman. But see, the h got herself coerced into a party. Ok, I can get that since the coercer is her high paying customer. Then she got drunk and all went downhill (imo) from there.Because she's drunk, the H came to tell her to stop drinking and then she passed out. Remember they are in a party where the attendees are the who's who in the rich Brittish society. If you are the no none-sense h I meet at first, would you indulge - for the first time - (according to the author) and ruin your professional image in front of potential customers? To make matters worse, the only extent of their (hero and heroine's) acquaintance at this point was a quick hello and a handshake. Then the H bring home the still unconscious h to the h's house using the h's house key taken from her purse/pocket (though how did he knew her address I have no clue), puts her to bed, undressed her and then tuck her into bed and then went home. hmmm.....Ok, I may forgive a lot of naive and innocent actions if I will get a very good smex on the read. I was told the H was a rich experienced man and the h was a 25 virgin. Let's see....a chapter or so later (after the drunken incident) the H gave the h a lot of Os from 4plays and the H being the caring and gentleman was nervous and careful because she's a V. So back to the bedroom. The h just had more than one O.....***excerpt***She looks up at Logan, barely able to speak, lifts her hand to his cheek and says, "I love you." He bends his head and the kiss that follows is long and deep. "I want all of you," she tells him, watching Logan steadily; but he seems to be backing away. "I won't stay a virgin forever," she states, knowing it is this that is holding him back. She pulls his head down to kiss him, her other hand reaching down to grasp and pleasure him as he had her. Then she takes him completely off guard, flips him on to his back and impales herself upon him.Her body erupts on an orgasm that tears right through her, and Logan is dragged over the edge with the strength of it as she clamps fiercely around him.... ***end excerpt***WHAAATT!!!! I went back pages, thought maybe I missed a page or two. Change the size of the letter on my kindle but no I did not miss a thing.....Whoever write this book - ok just even this scene - was not a woman or was so drunk when she lost her V status or she lost her 'IT' through surgical (with anesthesia) means. In the end, it is the murder mystery that kept me reading, not the romance. Plot-wise, it would hold, it is the execution - the lack of logic/wisdom on how things truly happen. Basically you need a juvenile or even YA's naivete to enjoy the romance on this book. Some reviewers complain about too much 6s in the book but I cannot enjoy them because I cannot connect with the two main characters.ETA: I am not saying the book is all fluff because it does has its brilliant and in the zone moment where it does pulled me in but the 'huh?!' moment happens often that it disrupts the flow of the story for me.This book ended in a HFN tone but if I ever pick up the two other books in this series, it would be for the murder mystery and not the romance aspect. In the end, this is a very disappointing romance read.
Don't let the bad language in book one put you off reading the other two books, it's a defense mechanism that Catherine employs to keep people at a distance - by book three she's telling everyone else to keep their language in check.
Not my kind of book. Nothing like I expected when I downloaded it. Some bits seemed as if they were taken from the pages of fifty shades, which also is not my kind of read. Too heavy on bad language which made it repetitive & hard to get into.
Excellent book.Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It keep my attention from the very start to the end. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Catherine Colson is a determined woman. She runs her own business with one employee, Ben. Together they are a force to reckon with. Professionally, Catherina has it all together. Her personal life is a completely different story. Her first employer tried to take advantage of her youth and innocence in a very inappropriate manner. Work seemed to be the only thing keeping her together. Her past is very dark and sad. She witnessed the torture, rape and murder of her mother at the age of 10. She grew up in foster care. The man responsible for her mother’s dead was never caught. Growing up in foster care and being extremely smart, she was quickly turned into an outcast. With her history, Catherine down dresses her womanhood to deflect any man’s attention. That and the way she acts. She comes off as a hardass and thus repelling most men. Well that didn’t work for Logan. She meets Logan at a business meeting and he is immediately intrigued by the short haired slumpy dressed woman. Logan is determined to get to know her. He challenges her and it’s amusing to read the interactions with these two. Before she could disagree, Logan has made a date with her and the journey begins. She finds that she enjoys spending time with Logan and begins to trust him enough to share her history with him. Logan and Catherine set out to hunt down answers and hope to find the man who murdered Catherine’s mother.I truly enjoyed this book. Logan was the perfect person to break Catherine out of her shell and start to live life for the first time. Together they worked hard at finding out who killed her mother and that brought them closer and closer together. I was completely shocked by the results of that investigation. The book was well written. There were lots of moments that I laughed hard. Catherine is a firecracker and Logan loves to tease her. This is book one in the trilogy and I can’t wait to read the remaining two. I highly recommend the book! It was one hell of a wild ride!
Easy readIt took some time getting used to the story format but the book is an easy read. There were some parts that dragged on in the book but the overall plot was interesting. I will probably read the series to see what happens next.
Not one of my favourite books I have ever read but still worth a read
